Haivision Joins IBC Accelerator Programme to Advance Programmable 5G Connectivity for Live Media Production

Collaboration with leading broadcasters, mobile operators, and technology partners explores how open network APIs can transform 5G into a predictable and prioritized resource for live production workflows

MONTREAL, Sept. 04, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Haivision (TSX: HAI), a leading global provider of mission-critical, real-time video networking and visual collaboration solutions, today announced its participation in the IBC Accelerator Media Innovation Programme as part of the Network Control: Your Connection, Your Choice project.

The IBC Accelerator Media Innovation Programme brings together broadcasters, service providers, technology companies, and academic institutions to explore innovative solutions to some of the media industry's most complex challenges. The Network Control: Your Connection, Your Choice project is focused on investigating how open network APIs can help applications with specialised requirements interact with standardised network capabilities designed to meet defined quality requirements, supporting reliable and business-critical media production workflows over 5G.

The project is led by a group of industry Champions including BBC, EBU, DAZN, France Télévisions, GSMA, RAI Italy, RTL Germany, TV 2 Denmark, Vodafone, and Telefónica. Haivision joins fellow Participants Neutral Wireless, LiveU, SliceFinity, and Vonage, alongside Academic Partner University of Strathclyde, in developing and testing proof-of-concept workflows around major sporting events in Germany and Spain for demonstration and discussion at IBC2026.

As part of the initiative, the project team is evaluating how network-aware applications and open network APIs can provide broadcasters and content creators with greater visibility and control over connectivity resources. The goal is to enable more reliable and consistent transmission of live video over 5G networks, helping media organisations improve the quality and resilience of their remote and mobile production workflows.

Haivision is providing its expertise in live video contribution and mobile video transmission technologies to help assess the role of programmable Quality on Demand network capabilities in supporting high-quality, low latency video transport over 5G in demanding production environments. The project leverages Haivision's Falkon X2 mobile video transmitter, a compact bonded cellular field unit designed for live sports, news, and remote production workflows, combined with the Haivision StreamHub receiver and Haivision Hub 360 cloud master control solution to enable API-driven requests for specific SIMs to prioritize traffic when network conditions become congested.
